About the Center
The El Paso Center for Children is a community-based, private, non-profit corporation. Our volunteer Board of Directors is responsible for the organization’s governance and strategic direction. We are El Paso County’s oldest, largest, and most comprehensive provider of treatment and support services for special-needs youth and their families.
We have served as a
federal HHS Runaway and Homeless Youth contractor since 1987, and as a HUD
Supportive Housing contractor since 1995. We have served as prime
contractors for the major child-serving state agencies (Child Protective
Services, Mental Health and Mental Retardation, and Juvenile Probation)
since the 1970s. We are a member agency of the United Way of El Paso County
and have received financial support from the Border Fund and the Robert R.
McCormick Tribune Foundation, Casey Family Programs, and several local
foundations and trusts.
The Center consistently meets or exceeds the programmatic and fiscal management requirements of all its funders and contractors. The chief reason for this is that we have a remarkably stable and highly experienced administrative staff.
